The Book Labyrinth This is not a readers group as we know it. There are no designated books to read.
Rather, it is a get together that will enable members to share their favourite books and stories as they reflect on a wide range of book-related topics and stories, including:
How we choose what to read – and how we read. How we personalise our books. Bookish paraphernalia. Our books with special inscriptions and what they mean to us. Books that resonate with different times in our lives. Books published in our birth year and books we enjoyed as children. How we collect or accumulate books. If, and how, we journal our reading. What our books say about us. What our Desert Island Book might be. What things we keep in our books. What we use our books for. Where we go to read.
It is called The Book Labyrinth because, like labyrinths, books and stories, in whatever format, can provide us with different perspectives on life events and the world around us.
As our meetings progress, we will select topics of particular interest to the group members for exploring. We will also look at more broad-ranging subjects such as the role books play in society, and banned books, past and present.
Remember you are welcome to attend one meeting of any group before committing to join a particular group.
